Next Week's Subject: Maleficent
Next week will be Disney's bad girl Maleficent. I've never drawn her before and I don't think Gene has either, so check back next Wednesday to see what we come up with.

Look! Up in the sky!
I wanted to try something different for this weeks subject of Supergirl and this is the result. This was done in acrylic on a 48" x 12" wrap canvas.

Next Week's Subject: Supergirl
That's right, next week will be the Maid of Might, Supergirl. A character both Joe and I really enjoy drawing and painting. So drop by next week, this is going to be super man! Well, not Superman, SuperGIRL. You know what I mean. :)

Vampirella by Gene Gonzales
Art © 2012 Gene Gonzales
I went for a cheesecake approach for Vampirella. Not menacing or too racy. I had done three rough sketches and then did a Google search for the costume details and on the first image page I saw variations of all three poses I did. So I came up with a fourth, more interesting pose for me to do, but had trouble with some of the figure. Luckily my wife is always willing to help me out and pose when needed. After a dozen shots from different angles I managed to get some images that helped with the anatomy of the pose.
Vampirella was penciled on 11" x 17" Strathmore 400 Series Bristol Board and painted with Golden fluid acrylics.

Next Week's Subject: Vampirella!
Joe mentioned he hadn't drawn Vampirella in a long time so next week will be a Vampirella-fest. We both realized we haven't done a head-to-head, toe-to-toe post in a while. One where we both draw our takes on the same character. So that just adds to the fun!

Mermaid by Gene Gonzales
Art © 2012 Gene Gonzales
I thought I would show why mermaids use shells instead of starfish. Sure the starfish stay on without strings but they are tough to take off. :)
