Next Week's Subject: Mermaids

The first art post of 2012 will be 'Mermaids' (instead of an end of the world theme...we've got all year to work up to that :)).

Thanks to everyone who checked out the blog in 2011! Hope you'll enjoy what we have to offer in 2012 :)

Happy New Year by Gene Gonzales

Art © 2011 Gene Gonzales

I would have liked to have spent more time on this idea but I am under the deadline gun this week. I love the old Saturday Evening Post New Year Baby covers. This is my spin on those covers with my own New Year Baby!

Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year! :)

Next Week's Subject: Happy New Year's

Gene and I thought a Happy New Year's theme would be a good choice for the last theme of the year. Feel free to start dropping suggestions for the new year also. Hope everyone has a good time around the holidays!

Here is my take on the coolest girl band in Riverdale. This piece was based on a rough sketch I did a while back and always wanted to finish. Below is how I see it in color as a band flyer.

Next Week's Subject: Josie and the Pussycats

Gene and I decided on Josie and the Pussycats for next week's subject. Originally suggested by Gene's wife a few weeks ago, it's one I've personally wanted to do for a while now. See you all on Wednesday.

Here's my take on this week's theme. Bad girls celebrate the holidays too, don't they? :)

Next Week's Subject: Holiday Theme

Gene and I decided last week that we wanted to do a 'Holiday' theme before the holidays got here :). So next week we'll be back to the regularly scheduled suggestions. We've also decided to be PC (well, Gene's a Mac, but don't hold that against him) and just call it a 'holiday' theme instead of being too specific and alienating anyone ;). so whatever you celebrate just be here next week to see some scantily clad holiday girls.

Military Girl by Gene Gonzales

Artwork © 2011 Gene Gonzales

I'm a day late, but not a dollar short due to my deadlines. But here is my take on the military girl theme. I went all modern warfare with this since Joe nailed the sexy military girl pin-up. :)

Military Girl by Joe Pekar

Here's my piece for the week. I chose to go with an Army Ranger pinup. She may have forgotten a thing or two, but she's willing and able at least :)

(This was a direct result from playing too much Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 lately. I always like drawing guns but so rarely get the opportunity.)

Next Week's Subject: Military Girls

This week's theme will be Military Girls. and was my suggestion :). thanks to Gene for going along with it! As he knows all too well, I play a lot of military first person shooter games (Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare). I've wanted to try this theme since we first started the blog, but we always had too many other suggestions. So...and just in time for the holidays...girls with guns! :)

and don't forget you can still suggest anything you want for future themes!
